April 2012
Last month was the busiest March that I can remember having, and I couldn't be happier for it. In
addition to debuting my trio I had numerous other fun gigs including with Marilyn Carino, Darcy
James Argue's Secret Society, Scott Reeves' Big Band and with Grace Kelly's Quintet. These
included trips to Toronto, Stephenville, TX and Reston, VA as well as about town here. This
month things start off where last month ended with a trip to Washington, D.C. with the Secret
Society again and with the Jazmin Prodan Group featuring Aruan Ortiz which we will also be going
into the studio to record. Later in the month I'm looking forward to playing with the Connection
Works Chamber Ensemble and Dan Pugach's Nonet. Lots of fun! For more info check my schedule
page.
The BJU album we recorded in January of the music commissioned for our "Portrait of Brooklyn"
project last year is now mastered and getting ready for production, it's a really interesting album I
think with fantastic playing and writing from all. It will be released to coincide with the sixth
annual BJU Festival, coming this June at Ibeam in Brooklyn where we will also be performing the
material from the record. Also Ben Stapp's Zozimos Quintet album is mastered and will be
released this month, I really enjoy listening to the preview I've heard and expect it will be very
well received. Once it's out check it out!
That's all for now, check back for more news next month!
